Mystical August Release Kit Page

This month I was the lucky one to get to play with out August Kit...and I've had such a good time playing with it....sadly due to life getting in the way I only have one page to show so far...but more will come during the week!

Our regular Mystical girls know that we're not long home from a little holiday in Sydney and Adelaide where we caught up with family, so I've made great use of the pocket pages to highlight different places with went with family members.

However this is my main page to go along side of my pocket page.

I've inked the super cute Memory Maze chipboard key and heart with silver to coordinate with the silver stick pin and paperclip

I've added some Green Tara Heirloom
flowers from my stash to go with this lovely stick pin, you can find them here

More samples soon!

Tracey's Challenge Sample

Greeting all, Tracey here with you this week and I have created this layout using chipboard and bling.

The Great Aussie Road Trip

I have inked the chippie with two colours of Distressing Ink to give it a dirty muddy look and have added some bling under the Dreaming word and under the journaling.
Don't forget you have until the end of the month to get your layouts in for the challenge and you could win a fantastic prize.

Dale's tip for August

Hello fellow scrappers.

I have a couple of great tips for you this month. They're about card making but will also apply to layouts as well.

First of all, stick to only 2 or 3 colours. This will make your project really pop. Neutrals such as black and white are always a good choice.

Second, make more than one. Your supplies are already out. Why not make use of them by making multiples. If you like the design it is really quick to make more than one, rather than getting everything out again on another occasion.

For my cards, I chose to use cardstock as my base and make them open upwards instead of sideways. I used a different punch on each one along the base to add a feature. I've added a piece of black cardstock and some stickers from Kaisercraft and a couple of pearls from Kaisercraft. Done.

Jane's tutorial for August ..

I thought I might quickly show you how I altered the chipboard hearts I used on my page for the monthly challenge in August.

Changing chipboard from the plain "as it comes" variety is very simple.  I pulled out the chipboard and the ink pads I thought might work with the papers I was using for my layout along with a stamp and acrylic block.  I have found that an all over stamp design works best for this - one that leaves some gaps in the pattern.  It really doesn't matter what the stamp is of as you will only be using a part of the image anyway.

In my case I am using a teacup stamp and after pressing the ink pads directly onto scrap paper to see which one I liked best I then inked up my stamp just enough to cover the chipboard.

Press onto the chipboard to highlight the stamps design.

TIP - If you only want to colour your chipboard you can just press the ink pad directly onto the chipboard.

And here they are used on my layout.  A very quick but really effective way of jazzing up those chipboard pieces.

Hope you can join in with our month challenge of using some chipboard and bling on your page.  Entries are open until the end of the month.  We'd love to see your work in our gallery.

Challenge for August set by Dale

Hello fellow scrappers.
I can't believe it's August already.
This month's challenge is set by me, Dale. I would like to see you use:

CHIPBOARD AND BLING

Here is my example.

Everything I used is from the Mystical store.
The chipboard is Twiddleybitz Basic Arrow shape which I have used as it came but attached some ribbon and Kaisercraft rhinestones to jazz it up.
I've used a Simple Stories Take a Hike Sn@p Pocket to put my journalling into. I have also dressed it up a bit. These are really cute and make your page interactive. Always a fun thing.

You have until the end of August to get your entry into the Mystical gallery. The other Designers will also be doing this challenge so watch out on the blog for their posts.
