Year of the Monkey ~ CyberCrop

Welcome to the February Cyber Crop where we have taken our inspiration from the Chinese New Year!

2016 is the year of the Monkey and the signs for the Monkey are;

Lucky numbers: 1, 7, 8
Lucky colours: white, gold, blue
Lucky flowers: chrysanthemum, alliums
Lucky directions: north, northwest, west

.....and this is where we have found our inspiration for our challenges!

Gypsy's Challenge: Red-ish and Gold!

Red and gold are both colours of good fortune and luck in the Chinese culture. Your challenge is either to use the colours Red and Gold or to scrap a page that relates to Good Fortune or luck.

I have the good fortune to have a wonderful sister- Caitlin, and she has the good fortune to have a lovely partner in Scott. Who recently had the good fortune to graduate from the University of Otago!

This page is more pink than red I will admit- but I liked that it picked up the pink from Cait's scarf. And I'm always fairly flexible with rules!  That lovely pink paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle and is on special in the store- it has a cool X's and O's pattern on the flip side. I've also used Fancy Pants, and White Bazzill. The stickers and flair are the new Cocoa Daisy Line. And my hearts are made from cut down Frangipanis then stitched to the page. And a handy tip... don't try and stitch through a glue dot!!

Kathy's Challenge : 1 Photo, 7 Strips of Paper and 8 Words

It is the Chinese Year of the Monkey and Lucky numbers for the Monkey are 1, 7 and 8.  So my challenge is to use just 1 photo, 7 paper strips and 8 words on your page :)

I decided to make a page of my wonderful kids :)  I used Doodlebug Hello Spring - Baby Butterflies paper and cut it into 7 strips. And the cardstock stickers are from the Doodlebug Hello Spring range as well - they are SO cute and glittery too!  I used some Thickers for the title and pink and green Core'dinations Essentials cardstock.

Donna's Challenge - Lucky Directions

For my challenge I would like to see 3 arrows on your page!

And here's my take...

To keep the arrow's grunge looking, I've painted them black, then when dry I've sparingly dropped on some Dimensional Magic,  then with my finger I've spread it by tapping it,  to give it that uneven, almost hammered metal look.
I've used the very yummy new Fancy Pants range, it will be available in the shop shortly Smile
