Gallery Pick

How lovely is this Layout by Kikyee in our gallery? The departure from traditional Christmas colours with that pop of blue is really delightful. I like the way she's used that bold text paper- there's just enough that you know what's going on but it doesn't overwhelm the page. The washi tape as a home for the journalling is a great idea! And I love the embellishing... understated awesomeness! Thanks for sharing this LO with us... some great inspiration.

September Cyber Crop - Flowers for All!

Welcome to our September Cybercrop!

Inspired by the start of spring and in hopes of some lovely weather- this month we're all about flowers!

Challenge one - Mood Board
Take the inspiration for a scrapbook page or card from this month's inspiration board. Look at the shapes, numbers, patterns, colours and ideas in the board and find one or more ideas that you can use as a springboard for your project.

Challenge Two - Sketch  Use this months sketch as the basis for a scrapbook layout. Remember that you can flip it and or change it as much as you like- add on elements or move things round- the sketch is just a starter for your ideas!

Here's my take on the sketch:

Supplies used: Cardstock Core'dinations Sugar n'spice,Cocoa Vanilla Love Always: Papers: Bouquet and Lovely Things, Accessory Stickers, Puffy Stickers, and Diecut Ephemera.

Challenge 3 - Scrap-Lift Inspiration
Scrap-lifting is a great way to try a new technique, rev up your mojo, or just because you love someone's style!

And it's perfectly acceptable as long as you follow the 2 golden rules:

1- All ways give credit to the person your scrap-lifting
2- Never submit Scrap-lifted work for publishing, you can only scrap-lift for personal use

I adore Louise Nelson's style, maybe because it's so different from mine.  I meet her at a private weekend retreat in SA some years ago, and her pages still make me whooo & aahhh !

A page of her popped up in my FB feed the other day and I knew I was going to have to SL it- find it HERE

And here is my take in it :)   Ive used very different colours, but kept the over all design.  And to tie it into out theme, make sure you add a flower!!

I've used KaiserMist Turquoise for my background, and then got to use lots of left over bits!

I got out my Cuttlebug and cut the tags from left over bits from Fancy Pants - Happy Place range, the little banners are from October Afternoon, Cogs from Twiddleybiz and the arrow from Memory Maze the speech bubble is from Cocoa Vanilla Totally Rad  , wood veneer pack, I just turned it and painted the back!

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 2nd October- Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - there just may be a game or two happening with the odd prize being thrown your way ;)

Gallery Pick

I love this page by DebJ in our gallery. The traditional Christmas colours help to tell a story where the photo doesn't. And the light background she chose for the photo helps to mute and offset the mish-mash of colours that came with the photo. I also love that she told a story with lots of her emotion from her childhood. The idea of her 5 year old self marvelling at the bounty of the stocking is one I can definitely get on-board with! It was a great design idea to keep the embellishments minimal to offset her visually weighty title and busy photo.  Thanks for sharing Deb- you've inspired some older Christmas memories in me with your page.

Mid month challenge: Layer it up!

So better late than never- here is out mid month challenge for September... it's about making space so you can justify some shopping! Well that's my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it.

I'm inviting you to layer up a whole bunch of scraps and bits. I think I have about eight patterned papers on this page! I pulled them together by sticking with pinks, blues and apricots that all had the same sort of tonal weight- so nothing really sticks out much more than anything else. You'll also notice I have used them either in threes or in twos on opposing sides... this helps to balance everything out too. My embellishments also match the colour scheme and move the eye diagonally from the top left to bottom right helping to make the page feel like it has flow. I've hand lettered my title and coloured it with Kaisermists... something I've been enjoying a lot lately.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pages in our gallery... you have until the end of the month (maybe a couple of days more... after all I was late with the challenge!)

Supplies used: Bazzill White Cardstock, Cocoa Vanilla Love always: Patterned papers: Class Act, Bouquet, Frolic, and Note to self. Accessory stickers and Diecut Ephemera. Kaisermist: Pink and Washi Tape.

Happy Scrapping!

Gallery Pick

Ok I have to admit it I am totally biased because I love Starbucks... but either way this page by Jazikt in our gallery really thrilled me!  I love the fact she's used the bag from the store. The photo is fabulous. The stitching is a really great touch. She's kept the colours to a minimum and they are great choices too. The embellishing is also simple and works perfectly for the page. I really, really like this page, can you tell? Thanks for sharing it with us!!
