Challenge 1 - Use a book page on your layout.

Book pages make a wonderful background, here's my take.  I've brought a cheap book from a second hand shop or flea market years ago, and using gesso I've creating this background.

And here's my layout.... I managed to use some die cuts that where RAK to me by one of the lovely Mystical girls ❤

Challenge 2 - Use a quote or line from a book somewhere on your page.

Here's my take- My quote is from Jane Austen: "What strange creatures brothers are!" I adapted a sketch for my page and I have included that as well... it's not needed to complete the challenge.

Challenge 3 -  Be Inspired by books.

Take inspiration from one or more of the book covers above. Take a look at the designs, colours, shapes, elements, text, and presentation on these cover and use some of them as a starting point for your page or cards.

Here's my page... I've been inspired by the cover divided into quaters (middle right) the circles on Alice (bottom middle) and The 3 Little Pigs cover (top right) reminded me of this Basic Grey newspaper print paper.

Hello scrappy friends, and welcome to our July Cyber Crop

We have 3 challenges for you, using Christmas as our inspiration.
You do not have to scrap Christmas photos, we are just taking our inspiration from Christmas ☺  However, if like me you haven't finished scrapping last Christmas then feel free to do so!!

Please join us over at our Facebook chat page.  We love to welcome new friends, it's a private page, so just message me and I can add you.

Challenge 1 - All that glitters and sparkles!

I love the decorations silver and gold, I love the lights all sparkling and bold. This challenges is to bring some Christmas sparkle to your page. Make gold or silver or a metallic sparkle a feature of your page... think bling, crystals, metallic mists, metallic cardstock, glitter or glitter paper... make it shimmer and shine!
Here's my take...

I love the way these Copper Glitter Thickers match Will's hair! This was a favourite photo of my very thoughtful boy so I am glad to get it scrapped. I used Basic Grey Serenade Peacock Paper and Element stickers. I was busting some of my stash so I've used wood veneers and word stickers from Cocoa Vanilla lines: Love alwaysEndless Summer and You Rock! Finished off my page with some gold mist from my own stash and a Gold pen.

Challenge 2 - Colour Challenge - Red White & Green

This challenge is to use the traditional colours of Christmas... you can make a Christmas page or co with something completely different so long as you page is predominantly Red, White and Green.

I love the Bazzill Dotted Swiss cardstock for adding texture and interest to my page in a subtle way. I've used the Irish Eyes and Phoenix on this page as well as the regular Bazzill White for my background. Added in a bit of playful spotted patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla- Love Always - Class Act, My title is from the CV You Rock Cut apart sheet- Random and Glitter Thickers- Sprinkles Cucumber. I have added some playful features in the form of bows from my stash, RicRac, Cocoa Vanilla Enamel Dots and Enamel Shapes. Lastly I added dots of the Nuvo Crystal Drops: WhiteRed BerryApple Green and Black

I'm really enjoying the flexibility of the Nuvo Crystal drops... I know I am not going to run out of the size and colour of the dots I want for my project. Plus I can create other shapes as well. I have done these dots direct to page- but I have also made some premade dots on a non stick sheet which I can glue on my page. I got the primary colours and black and white in the gloss drops to start but will definitely look at adding some more of my most used colours to my collection- they are a much more economical way to go as well.

Challenge 3 - Use ribbon on your page

Such fun going though my ribbon box!

It's so easy creating when your using everything from a 1 range!  I've used Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' papers and embellishments, I honestly don't thing there is anything in the range I don't love!!  I've sprayed and dropped with KaiserMist -White, and I've use two thin bits of ribbon to help to "frame" my photo.

Hope you enjoy this challenges, we will be chatting over on our FB page, with a odd game or two over the weekend ☺

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Here

Welcome to our May Cyber Crop!

We have 3 sketches, each with their own added requirement!  I've made use of the wonderful Page Maps for my sketches, for some reason I just couldn't create a decent sketch to save myself this month!!

Please join us over at our Facebook chat page.  We love to welcome new friends, it's a private page, so just message me and I can add you.

Challenge 1 - Sketch Plus Paint
To incorporate the paint requirement I've made some the squares paint instead of paper, painted some chipboard and flicked some about too!  Your free to add paint however you like.

I have a bit of jounalling to do, need to find the date!  I've used Jillibean Chit Chat Chowder papers on Kasiercraft Kraft card

Challenge 2 - Sketch plus Mood/Colour board
And the sketch to go with it...

And here is my take on the two.  From the mood board I've taken inspiration from the copper, texture from the blankets and the flowers.

Challenge 3 - Sketch Plus Stamping and colour

My challenge for you this month is a super simple sketch- but you need to making stamping a feature of your page. You also must colour your stamping. I've used mists but you can use whatever you please- paint, pencils, ink, pen- you name it. It would be cool to see heaps of colour but not a must.

My pages uses Bazzill White, Darkroom Door Stamps, Kaisermist: pink, peach, yellow, apple, aqua, wisteria and blackberry. Washi tapes from Hambly and WRMK.

Donna

Hello everyone and welcome to our March "Monochrome Plus" Cyber Crop!

We have 3 challenges for you, each based on a single colour, and with an additional requirement.

A monochrome layout is based on a single colour, you can use any shade of that colour with a small amount of a neutral colour if needed, (neutral being white, black or kraft.)

Challenge 1 - Pink plus a Sketch

Here's Gypsy's take on this...

I'm loving the new Cocoa Vanilla Line Wild at Heart in the store- so really enjoyed putting this page together. I've combined it with some bits and pieces from the Love Always line as well.

Challenge 2 - Blue plus Mixed Media

This is my take on this, I have used up lots of scraps of blue and my matte transparent texture paste.... which doesn't show up that great in photo's 😡 ...  but in real life it looks great!! ❤

They look like different colours... above was taken outside, below was taken at my scrap desk, and I've edited it a little to show off the texture paste a bit more

Challenge 3  - YOUR choice of colour plus Chipboard

I have always wanted to try an all while layout!!  I've not put a title on this page yet, as I'm still trying to decide on one... I think I might find a quote to use :)

I've embossed and die cut to add texture to the page...

We hope you have fun with these chalenges, you have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery  and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 26th March - Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend and say Hello to everyone and join in with our Bingo game.  If you are new please just send me a message and I will add you.

February CyberCrop

Welcome to our February CyberCrop Challenge!

Our theme this month is
One Little Word

We all know that one word can make a huge difference in our lives sometimes positive and sometimes not
so much... words like connection, sorry, heartbreak, love, depression, welcome, acceptance, forgiveness,
change, and together. These words can mean something different to every person that comes across them.
This month we've chosen three words and we'd love to know what they mean to you.
You can use the word as you choose... here are some ideas to get you started:
  • as a theme for your page
  • you can use it for a one word title
  • or as part of the title
  • you can make a page about a person who embodies that word for you
  • maybe you have a goal that relates to the word
  • An event that involves the word

Challenge One:
Gypsy's word is: LIGHT

Challenge Two:
Donna's word is: MOVE

Challenge Three:
Use the word: JOY or choose your own word

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Find here

Due date Sunday, 26th Feb - Midnight

**All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do gives you a chance to win!
We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

Welcome to our last CC for 2016!

This month we are looking at the advertising that we see everyday and drawing some scrapping inspiration from it.

If you look, you can inspiration anywhere 😊

Challenge 1

For my challenge I've chosen an ad for my favourite perfume, Modern Muse.

I can't wait to see what inspiration you can pull from this ad 😍

For my page, I've used soft pinks and grays, feathers and ribbon.  I will be uploading my challenge page over the weekend :)

Challenge 2

I will quite often spot inspiration when I am out and about and like to grab a quick photo with my phone if I see something I want to remember for later. This advert for instant scratchys caught my eye because I love the way they've treated the text... the colours, overlap and informal layout is lovely and playful. It would work well on a kids page and also on a page about a family member's favourite saying- making the saying the central feature. Even if you don't have time to scrap a page inspired by this image this weekend I'd love to hear the inspiration you get from this one in the chat on facebook.

Here's my page about my son's speech issues...

Challenge 3

The last inspiration piece is a window dressing in a make-up store.... I really liked the partial circle splash and the two additional circle elements... there's also a nice muted colour palette which would work for a formal occasion or winter page. But I imagine a page with a large photo and a bold title when I see this... what does it have you thinking of? Looking forward to seeing everyone's pages in the gallery.

Here's my page...

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Find here

**All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do gives you a chance to win!

October Cyber Crop ~ Journalling

Hello all,

Welcome to the October CyberCrop.

We're all about Journalling again this month and we have 8 ideas for you to choose from.

So the way this CC works is;
  • You get 1 ticket into the draw per challenge ...up to the maxium of 3. You are welcome to do as many as you like, but maxium tickets given is 3
  • Upload your challenge pages to our gallery, there is only 1 gallery this month, so and make sure you let us know what number challenge idea you have used.
You'll find below a list of 8 ideas for different ways to journal on your LO's with some examples of some from the DT.   You needed follow the ideas exactlly, your welcome to add your own spin, as long as we can 'see' the orginal idea.

1. Long title - Make you journalling and title in one by creating a long title that tells the story. The title of my LO below is a quote from Will age 3- something that he said often to Kieran- which always made us laugh because we didn't know where he got the idea from!

2. Story Write your journalling as a story- you could even start it with Once upon a time....

3. Time-line - Use a time-line to tell your story- maybe pictures of a child at different ages, jobs you've had, cars you've owned, major life events, or placed you've lived?

4. Numbers about you - this is another list. But this one should be numbered and it should relate to you- 10 things I love about.... 15 life lessons I've learned... 20 things I want to do before I die... 12 books I'll always own... 10 things I'm thankful for.... 42 things about me at 42....  you can pick the number and the subject - but it has to be about you!

5. Significant other's words - Has your partner, child or another person close to you written or said something you'd like to get on a page? Or perhaps you can ask them too? Maybe even a He says/she says?

6. Repeat a phrase - Use the same starter for each sentence or section of your journalling:
For example; 'I love you because....'  'Today you...' 'Currently I....' 'When you were little...' 'I wish...' 'I remember...' This prompt has more impact when you have at least 8 - 12 lines of journalling starting in the same way.

7. Social Media Stories -  Use some text from your social media- a Facebook status- maybe with comments, or your tweets, or instagram text. Or use a Meme that sums up some aspect of yours or someone else's life.

8. 5W's - Use the 5W's (who, what, where, when, why) to tell the story- make the words (who, what, where, when, why) as an integral part of your layout design.

**********

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery- there is only one for this CC.

Due date Sunday, 6th November - Midnight

**All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do gives you a chance to win!
We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

September Cyber Crop
Welcome to our September Cybercrop - Flowers for All!

Inspired by the start of spring and in hopes of some lovely weather- this month we're all about flowers!

Challenge one - Mood Board
Take the inspiration for a scrapbook page or card from this month's inspiration board. Look at the shapes, numbers, patterns, colours and ideas in the board and find one or more ideas that you can use as a springboard for your project.

Challenge Two - Sketch  Use this months sketch as the basis for a scrapbook layout. Remember that you can flip it and or change it as much as you like- add on elements or move things round- the sketch is just a starter for your ideas!

Here's my take on the sketch:

Supplies used: Cardstock Core'dinations Sugar n'spice,Cocoa Vanilla Love Always: Papers: Bouquetand Lovely ThingsAccessory StickersPuffy Stickers, and Diecut Ephemera.

Challenge 3 - Scrap-Lift Inspiration
Scrap-lifting is a great way to try a new technique, rev up your mojo, or just because you love someone's style! And it's perfectly acceptable as long as you follow the 2 golden rules:

1- All ways give credit to the person your scrap-lifting
2- Never submit Scrap-lifted work for publishing, you can only scrap-lift for personal use

I adore Louise Nelson's style, maybe because it's so different from mine.  I meet her at a private weekend retreat in SA some years ago, and her pages still make me whooo & aahhh !

A page of her popped up in my FB feed the other day and I knew I was going to have to SL it- find it HERE

And here is my take in it :)   Ive used very different colours, but kept the over all design.  And to tie it into out theme, make sure you add a flower!!

I've used KaiserMist Turquoise for my background, and then got to use lots of left over bits!

I got out my Cuttlebug and cut the tags from left over bits from Fancy Pants - Happy Place range, the little banners are from October Afternoon, Cogs from Twiddleybiz and the arrow from Memory Maze the speech bubble is from Cocoa Vanilla Totally Rad  , wood veneer pack, I just turned it and painted the back!

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 2nd October- Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - there just may be a game or two happening with the odd prize being thrown your way ;)

 Challenge Two:

Welcome to our July CC!

This month we're encouraging you to scrap some of your Christmas Memories and tie them into the story of your Christmases now. We've listed six prompts below to get you thinking. And a free choice option because we'd love to see your ideas on Christmas stories to tell.

Challenge 1 - You choose!

1. Seeing Santa ~ Do you remember visiting Santa as a child? Or maybe he always came to a parents work Christmas Function (the one my kids saw came by helicopter in NZ) Did you go to the same place each year? Was there anything special about the place? Did you get a photo or just say hello? Perhaps you didn't like sitting with Santa? What are your memories of the guy in the red suit?

2. Christmas Deliciousness ~ Turkey or Ham? Triffle or Pav? Auntie Ann's Key Lime Pie or Prawns on the BBQ. What is a food or food that you remember from your childhood Christmas? Do you have that now? What's the same or different about your Christmas eating rituals now you are an adult?

3. Under Wraps - Presents! Did you or do you have any gift giving rituals or traditions? We always buy a Christmas book each year. The kids have stockings and many of the gifts are the same each year. What about you do you have traditions around gifts? Or do you remember a special gift that you wanted and got or maybe didn't get? Do you know where your mum hid the presents? Were you a sneaky peeker or did you like the surprise?

4. It's what we do in December ~ Is there a thing you did each year in holiday season? Or a place you went? Maybe you made and decorated ginger bread houses, or went to a special church service, or Christmas play. What activities do you recall from Christmas past? What do you do now- any  traditions for Christmas present?

Not technically a tradition, yet, the past couple of years we've decorated Gingerbread in the lead-up to Christmas. The kits that you can buy at Ikea have made it so easy! I had seven photos for this LO so I've gone with a double page spread- my go to design is the horizontal block.

Supplies used: Bazzill Cardstock: White, Basic Grey Lemonade: papers: Honey BeeStrawberry PatchElement Stickers, and Rubons- Canary Green. KI Memories Sheer Delights Greenery, Washi Tape: Hambly Set 4, Glitter Thickers, Kaiser Rhinestones: Mint Green, tag from: Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Cut Outs, and Ribbon- Herringbone Lime.

5. Early Start ~ What happened on Christmas morning in your house? Were you up before the sun? Opening presents first thing or did you have the torture of waiting till later in the day? Was there a stocking on the end of your bed or somewhere else? What were your Christmas morning rituals and what are they now?

6. The Story behind that ~ Is there an object or objects related to your childhood Christmas with a story of their own? Maybe a decoration made by you as a child or brought somewhere special or by someone special? Some china or linen that only came out a Christmas? Do you have any objects now that have a special meaning behind them?

7. Your Christmas Story ~ This one is a freebie, tell a Christmas story that doesn't come into the categories above- make sure to share it because it might remind us of a story we want to tell.

Challenge 2 - Use Ribbon

My challenge is to use ribbon on your page....it's doesn't have to be a Christmas layout, if you have already scrapped your Christmas!!

Here a peek is my take... Sadly due this never ending head-cold my layout is still waiting on a title, and a proper photo I've been too sick to venture out this week!!  But will pop it up shortly :)

Challenge 3 - Sketch

Have fun with this sketch....again Christmas photos would be great, but is not a requirement :)

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 31st July - Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - there just may be a game or two happening with the odd prize being thrown your way ;)

Happy scrapping !!

Favourite Seasons Cyber Crop

July's cybercrop is all about the season's we wanted to bring some hot sunshine, spring flowers, cosy winter feelings and warm autumn colours to your scrapping weekend! Looking forward to seeing what you create in the gallery!

Gypsy's Challenge - Summer

Hello Ladies I have Summer for this months challenge- Here in Perth I feel like summer lasts about 6 months of the year. We can enjoy the outdoors for such a lot of the year with the fabulous weather. My favourite thing is summer sunsets- but my boys is definitely water play... any chance they can get!

For my Summer Sprinklers page I have used: Bazzill Cardstock White, Basic Grey Lemonade: Poppy Field and Sundress, Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Cut outs Washi Tape: Kaiser Polka Peacock andWeRMemory Keepers: Pink , Twine- Yellow, Kaiser Rhinestones Aquamarine, Kaiser Mists: Yellowand Thickers Glitter.
Have fun
Gypsy

Kathy's Challenge - Winter

I don't really like the cold of Winter to be honest but I do love that warm and cozy feeling of snuggling into a blanket or soft knits.  I decided to scrap this photo of my youngest two, there's nothing much sweeter than a baby all snuggled up in a cuddly, fluffy suit is there?!

I tried to convey that warm, cozy feeling of Winter by using felt, and a button and doing some stitching on the page too.  So my challenge for you is to use some kind of fabric, buttons and sewing on your page.

The sentiment along the side is cut from the Eclectic paper by Cocoa Vanilla. I say something similar to my girls every night, so it was perfect for this page.

The paper is Seamstress from the Little Yellow Bicycle Clothesline range.  I really loved both sides and only had 1 sheet, so I had to carefully cut a strip out and reverse it where I wanted the panel to be. But it was worth it!  This paper range is especially gorgeous in real life because it has a linen type texture on one side.

The darker yellow paper around the photo, matt and the small stars is Simple Stories Life in Colour Teal/Yellow paper.

Cardstock is Bazzill Basic White.

The fancy border and date are from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid Element Stickers.
The alphabet is Sunrise - Natural by Thickers.

I used white felt for my stars and just did a simple stitch, tied at the front, to secure them.

Donna's Challenge - Autumn

For my challenge I've found this gorgeous photo of Autumn eucalyptus leaves, and created a colour pallet for you to have a play with!  You can add a little black, kraft or white if you wish.

I would love to credited the photographer, but I found this image on Pinterest, and it didn't seem to lead to anyone I could credit.

For my page I've used the soft green, pink and grey with an added touch of black from the Fancy Pants - Trend Setter range.

Now doen't forget, you have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges.  Upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a $20.00 store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.
Due date 3rd July - Midnight

Hi all,

Welcome to the Cyber crop for May! This month is all about sketches and we have three great ones for you to try your hand at!

Donna's Sketch....
I created this sketch to highlight 1 photo, feel free to turn it around as you wish, as long as the basic design remains.

And here's my take...

Here's a close up of the butterfly I popped off the page...

I've used Fancy Pants Happy Place range,  I love this range so much, the papers are a heavy weight and feel so nice to work with and the new puffy stickers script words and adorable!!
Core'dination Card stock in Dusk and Black     *Tip - Dusk actually comes under the Purple colour group!
Kaisercraft paint in Sea Breeze and White

I've used texture paste, my spellbinder dies, and gold thread to complete this look.  Check our my blog for a closer look.....
http://donna-scrapandstuff.blogspot.com.au/

 Kathy's Sketch...

 From Page maps
Here's my take on it :)

The papers I used are from the October Afternoon Sidewalks collection and they are SO pretty.
The papers behind the photos are both sides of Hide and Seek.  I would buy a couple of sheets of it because it is so gorgeous and it was one of those times when I really didn't want to cut into the paper.
The yellow paper behind is the B side of Red Light Green Light.
The stickers on the bottom right are all from this collection too.

The "Love" title is made with the wonderful cursive alphabet from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid Elements Stickers.

I have also used some Kraft card and some Core'dinations Kraft Core #11, which is wonderful! I just distressed the edge of it, but I love the look of the kraft and green together.

I also used some lace from the Kaisercraft Natural Lace pack.

Gypsy's Sketch...The sketch I have created is for one photo but could easily adapted by stacking two landscape photos in the photo block and replacing one of the journalling blocks with a smaller photo.

Here's my take on the layout using my May kit which is the lovely October Afternoon Farmhouse line with some little extra thrown in.
Here's what I used: Cardstock: Kraft Chestnut October Afternoon Farmhouse: Papers: Kitchen CupboardAttic TrunkClotheslineHer Bureau, Journal Cards, OA Sidewalks Miscellany, Basic Grey Serenade Element Stickers, Basic Grey Alphabet StickersKaisermist WhiteButtons.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a $20.00 store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Hello all,

Welcome to the April CyberCrop. This month is all about telling your story! And it's a little bit different, in that you get to choose your challenges- and you can do as few or as many as you want.

I find when I look back the pages I love the best are the ones where I have really taken the time to tell a thoughtful story in an interesting way. This month I want you to really think about how you can create journalling that will help you accurately tell a story and give meaningful information in a fun or interesting way. You'll find below a list of 10 ideas for different ways to journal on your LO's with some examples of some from the DT and some older LO's of mine. You can choose which methods you want have a go at. The example are just that- you don't have to use my ideas- but you can if you want.

1. List- use bullet points, numbers or some thing else to create a list on your page eg a list of names someone gets called, a list of countries you've visited, a list your favourite things to ea, or a list of things you want to remember.

2. Letter- write your journalling as a letter to yourself or someone else. You could put it on the page or enclose it in an envelope on your page.

3. Conversation- Have you recorded a funny or interesting conversation between two or more people? Maybe it's a series of texts on your phone? Use the conversation as the journalling on your page.

4. Highlight words- scrapbook your journalling in such a way that you highlight key words in the story. You can use stickers, word strips popped up, colour, bold text, or something else that you imagine up.

5. Infographics- Infographics use a combination of simple images and a small amount of words and/or numbers to get a message across. Here's an infographic about our family I created digitally for our 2014 Christmas Letter.

6. Recipe Share a recipe on your page- maybe it's one your family loves, or something your Grandmother made, the recipe for your wedding cake or maybe a recipe you make up. For example the recipe for a perfect man/child/friend or the recipe for a great day- no one said it had to be food. :-)

7. Lyrics or Poem- Is there a song or poem that you relate to a certain event, person or time- use that to tell the story.

8. Quote- Use a quote as your journalling or to compliment the story you are telling.

9. Comparison- Make a page that compares two or more things. For example; here and there, then and now, brother and sister, husband and wife, two pets, your childhood and your children's.

10. The News- Write your journalling as if you are writing a news article. This one is about my first day of school.

Now for our example pages, each DT member has chosen 1 journalling technique to use...

Gypsy here with my LO for this months Cyber Crop. I've used a poem by Lauris Edmond called 'Really...' it talks about a new baby.
I've used the Echo Park For the Record
Fancy Floral and Apron Strings, Bazzill Cardstock, Kaisercraft Cream Lace, Maya Road Vintage Crochet Trim, Fancy Pants Memories Captured Envelopes stamped with distress ink, Fancy Pants Wonderful Day Alpha and Green Tara Damask Flower.

Hi :)  It's Kathy here.
I used a quote by Plato to help capture my daughter's love of music.  I used Doodlebug Hello Spring Rainbow Jellies and Baby Butterflies papers and Twiddleybitz Chipboard Cuts. The quote was created with 2 different styles of Thickers, Pink Paislee Hey Kid Element Stickers and some smaller stickers from my stash. I also added some Kaisercraft silver jewels.

Hello everyone, Donna here,
I've chosen the Highlight Words technique.  To create my page I used papers from Simple Story's, Life in Color range and some pieces from their Ephemera pack - , Bazzill white card - KaiserMists and Rhinestones and Prima flower.

I have highlight words some words but using different sizes, fonts and some are popped off the page with 3D foam.

I tried a new product and technique too, well it's new to me, but it's been around in one form or another for a while now, and I've always been reluctant to try it....FOILS!

OMGosh....I'm in love!!  I will do a blog post next week to show you how easy these are to use and how you can create your own gorgeous embellishments!

Have fun with these, I can't want to see your takes up in the gallery.   You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery- there is only one for this CC.

Due date Sunday, 1st May - Midnight

**All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do gives you a chance to win!

We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

Happy Scrapping.

March Cyber Crop

Harmony Day is held every year on 21 March to coincide with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The message of Harmony Day is everyone belongs. It’s a day to celebrate Australia’s diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home!

Come join us for a Cyber Crop inspired by Harmony Day!

Challenge #1
Hi Donna posting on behalf of Gypsy.

Gypsy would like you use patterns from
culture another inspire your scrapbook page-  Here is a gathering of possible suggestions- feel free to use your own!
You can doodle, stamp or paper piece or what ever your create mind can come up with!

Here are some sample to get you started....

Japanese cultural patterns

 Maori

or try googling Mexican, Irish, or where your family history is from.  Patterns are found in a culture's architecture, artwork and even in their jewelry.

Here's my take on this challenge, for my page I've let the  Australia Aboriginal Dot painting inspire me to create this background...

Challenge #2

Hi :)  It's Kathy here.
Orange has been the Harmony Day colour since the first day was held in 1999.
So my challenge is to use the colour orange on your page.

It can be a tricky colour to use I think.  I have used it here as an accent colour and it's in my photos too.  You don't have to make a completely orange page, but kudos to you if you can make that work :)

I didn't have any orange papers so I decided to stencil some Distress Ink onto Bazzill Basic white card.
I actually just made a little stencil of my own by punching different sized circles out from a piece of card.  Then I stencilled some stars over the top with embossing paste.

I used two different Thickers and Basic Grey - Micro Monograms : pink for the titles.
The orange strip at the bottom, the ticket, "hey girl" and "you are amazing" are all from Pink Paislee's Hey Kid Elements stickers.  The bird and flower are from Doodlebug Hello Spring Cardstock Stickers.

I hope you'll join us and make a page using one of our Harmony Day challenges.

Challenge #3

Hi Donna here, for my challenge,  I'm taking inspiration from the fact that we here in Australia have such a diverse multicultural culture

So, where is this leading you ask.... My challenge is to use a non-English word, or words, on your layout.  It can be a title, or just a word, it's up to you!

Google translator comes in very handy if, like me, you don't know another language!...

(umm.... wish I noticed how crooked my photo was before I uploaded it!!..lol..)

Hope you have fun with these challenges.  We'd love to see your take on each one in our gallery.
You have a week plus to upload your creations into the correct gallery.

Due date Sunday, 27th March - Midnight

**All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....enter all three challenges and you get 3 chances to win!

We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

Happy Scrapping.

Welcome to the February Cyber Crop where we have taken our inspiration from the Chinese New Year!

2016 is the year of the Monkey and the signs for the Monkey are;

Lucky numbers: 1, 7, 8
Lucky colours: white, gold, blue
Lucky flowers: chrysanthemum, alliums
Lucky directions: north, northwest, west

.....and this is where we have found our inspiration for our challenges!

Gypsy's Challenge: Red-ish and Gold!

Red and gold are both colours of good fortune and luck in the Chinese culture. Your challenge is either to use the colours Red and Gold or to scrap a page that relates to Good Fortune or luck.

I have the good fortune to have a wonderful sister- Caitlin, and she has the good fortune to have a lovely partner in Scott. Who recently had the good fortune to graduate from the University of Otago!

This page is more pink than red I will admit- but I liked that it picked up the pink from Cait's scarf. And I'm always fairly flexible with rules!  That lovely pink paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle and is on special in the store- it has a cool X's and O's pattern on the flip side. I've also used Fancy Pants, and White Bazzill. The stickers and flair are the new Cocoa Daisy Line. And my hearts are made from cut down Frangipanis then stitched to the page. And a handy tip... don't try and stitch through a glue dot!!

Kathy's Challenge : 1 Photo, 7 Strips of Paper and 8 Words

It is the Chinese Year of the Monkey and Lucky numbers for the Monkey are 1, 7 and 8.  So my challenge is to use just 1 photo, 7 paper strips and 8 words on your page :)

I decided to make a page of my wonderful kids :)  I used Doodlebug Hello Spring - Baby Butterflies paper and cut it into 7 strips. And the cardstock stickers are from the Doodlebug Hello Spring range as well - they are SO cute and glittery too!  I used some Thickers for the title and pink and green Core'dinations Essentials cardstock.

Donna's Challenge - Lucky Directions

For my challenge I would like to see 3 arrows on your page!

And here's my take...

To keep the arrow's grunge looking, I've painted them black, then when dry I've sparingly dropped on some Dimensional Magic,  then with my finger I've spread it by tapping it,  to give it that uneven, almost hammered metal look.
I've used the very yummy new Fancy Pants range, it will be available in the shop shortly Smile

Memory Maze Grunge Arrows - found here
AC Thickers found Here
Kaisercraft Pearls found here

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a $20.00 store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday, 28thst February - Midnight

Chatting is over on our Facebook page - Here

David Bowie Cyber Crop

Welcome to our first Cyber Crop for 2016

We are taking our inspiration from a singer/song writer that I, and millions of others,  loved

Challenge 1 -created by Jane Howden

Using this album I have created a sketch ...

and my take on the sketch ....

I have used two 6x4 portrait photos in place of the three 3x4 and positioned two clusters to form a visual triangle. I am also yet to journal on this page although the card is in place to do so.

Products used :

Green Tara mini flowers (Black)
Twine

Challenge 2 - created by GypsStockley

Almost as iconic as David Bowie is his supermodel wife Iman. They were married for over 23 years, and together made for a very stylish and incredible pair couple. For this challenge I invite you to take inspiration from David and Iman.
  • Either scrap a significant relationship in your life
  • Or design a layout that reflects the classic and sophisticated style of Bowie and Iman.
I attempted to emanate the sophisticated Bowie and Iman style in this LO- but I have to say it doesn't quite match the feel I was going for in my head! That said I do like the clean lines, the black and white colour scheme with just a hint of sparkle!
And talking about hints: I did learn not to emboss directly onto Bazzill Bling cardstock... it buckles!
Products used: Bazzill Bling Black Tie, Basic Grey Little Black Dress: Black & White and Etiquette
  SparkletsKaiser LaceZing White Embossing powder.

Challenge 3 - created by Donna Cope

I loved Bowie's music, so my challenge is to use a song title or lyric as apart of your page, you can use it as a title, as a quote or sub title....it up to you.

Here's a few examples

The Wedding Song
  • I believe in magic
  • Angel for love
Heroes
  • We can be heroes, just for one day
Words on a Wing
  • Just as long as I can walk, I'll walk beside you

Absolute Beginners
  • I absolutely love you

I got my songs title and lyric's from this web site - Song Facts

And here is my take...
I've use the line "Nothing prepared me for your smile"  from Thursday Child released 1999

For my page I've used;

Core'dination Card, Jet Black

Manor House - Thoughts Wandering

Zing Embossing Powder
AC Foam Thickers
Bling

Well scrappy friends we have come to the last cyber crop for this year, and we thought we would celebrate the colours of Christmas.

Do you have a modern tree, or are you like me,  and prefer the more traditional colours of red, green and gold?
Traditional  vs  Modern
which one are you?

Challenge #1 -  Traditional

Let's use some traditional colours on your project - think, red, green, yellow and any variations in between.  I'd like to see some chipboard on your page and I'd like to see you alter it in some way - ink it, stamp it, paint it, cover it in patterned paper - no plain chipboard allowed!  Mine has been inked in Versa Colour Scarlett.

Products used:-

Challenge #2 -  Modern

I have a Modern Colour challenge, Blue, White and Silver.  It needn't be a Christmas photo, but these colours must dominate your page.

Challenge #3 -  Those bits and pieces

Do you like using up scraps?  Keep a box of bits and pieces somewhere close?  Hate throwing out even the smallest pieces of patterned paper?  You are not alone !  Pull them out and put them to use in creating some fast and easy Christmas cards.  Use traditional colours or modern colours or be adventurous and use them both together.

These are left over pieces from the Echo Park - For the record range mounted on kraft cardstock.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - there just may be a game or two happening with the odd prize being thrown your way ;)

Due date Sunday, 20th December - Midnight
Happy scrapping !!

MOVIE NIGHT CYBER CROP

Grab your popcorn, pour yourself a drink, get comfortable in that chair ….. it’s MOVIE NIGHT Cyber Crop time at Mystical.

Challenge 1

I was rather taken with this Movie Poster (and I am afraid to say I have not seen the movie so it could be a case of I've missed something wonderful or I haven’t missed anything at all) but I do like the poster !!

So my challenge to you is to create a page that features a city somewhere – it doesn't have to be London or Paris or New York, anywhere will do, but your title must contain the name of the city you have chosen.

My dd and dh visited London back in 2009 and were lucky enough to go on the London Eye - they said the view was spectacular and they were blessed with a fine sunny day in which to experience it !
Products used:

Pink Paislee London Market - Paper and Embellishments
Kraft cardstock

Challenge 2

I don't usually like this genre of movie, however, I did like this one...but it scared me silly...I've only watched it once!

Inspired by this poster, my challenge is to create a black and white layout, you can use 1 other colour and if you can please include a any winged animal ...butterfly to bat..it's up to you :)
Our last trip to Sydney, Ethan and I visited Madame Tussauds, were I took this shot of Ethan :)

I've used black and white Bazzill card stock  with Crate Paper - Maggie Holmes and a chipboardowl, that I have covered in black glitter and then add Dimensional Magic over the top.

Challenge 3

And of course I had to include this movie!!  Inspired by this poster create a page with the following;

1 - Use bright primary colours
2 - Include fabric, inspired by the wonderful fashions that we are all supposed to be wearing
3 - Add a clock face

Impromptu because at one stage we thought poor Miss Donna would be crying into a bucket as she endeavoured to reload hundreds of shop items !!  Happy to say this wasn't the case and she can now but the bucket aside for more appropriate uses!

So this cyber crop we have a sketch, a colour moodboard and a quote for you.

"Farewell to Winter" Cyber Crop

There is a touch of Spring in my part of the country ... the days are longer, the nights are warmer, the sunshine is out, the wattle is in full bloom.  It is time to wave goodbye to winter...

The month my challenge is finding inspiration two ways from this wonderful moodboard.

Jane's Challenges

Challenge One  is to find colours in this moodboard and base your layout on them - you must use at least 3 colours from the board (with the addition of black and white).

For my page I focused on the yellow, red and green combination.

Challenge Two  is to find inspiration by way of a theme or product from the moodboard.  You may like to scrap a page about ruging up in winter woolies, or your favourite hot drink or sitting around your log fire, warm and toasty at night or perhaps you are drawn to the use of wood veneer or fabric/thread on your page.

I decided to focus my page on a winter's day at the beach.

Donna's challenge

I have a sketch for you with the requirement that prominent colour must be white!

And here is my take...

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 30th August - Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - there just may be a game or two happening with the odd prize being thrown your way ;)

Welcome to July and our Washi, Ribbon and Twine Cyber Crop.

Challenge #1 - Using Washi

Got to admit I am a huge fan of washi and I pretty much use it in multiple ways on my layouts - from tiny pieces in strategic positions to full blown strips in place of patterned paper ...

and this is how I'd like you to use it for your own page for my Cyber Crop challenge.

I have used no patterned paper at all on my page, instead using strips of washi to create my own patterned paper look.

These are all washi tapes available from the Mystical store - the hearts are Kaisercraft, the black and white and orange patterns from We R Memory Keepers.

Challenge #2 - Use String

I love sting and twine!  For this challenge I would like you to use string twice!

I have made this page to go with my July challenge page,  and have used my colour spray to colour the chipboard heart and string.

In this close up you can see how I've wrapped the string around the chipboard heart, and also tied 3 strands together to run up the side of my page.

Challenge #3 - Use Ribbon

Are you anything like me when it comes to ribbon?  I have a whole bag full of ribbon bits!!  Some of them date back to when I starting scrapping...more then 12 years ago!!

For this challenge I would like you all to use at least 3 different ribbons on your page,  I've used 7 to make this background, and kept the layout nice and simple so my photo is the hero of the page.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the running for a $20.00 store voucher, or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 26th July 2015 - Midnight

And don't forget to stop by our Facebook chat group over the weekend - We are playing a game of Bingo on Saturday, you can find the word list here.....so make you you have your words into me before 9am Saturday morning  ;)

Happy scrapping !!

I will be posting my examples later on today, as I've not had a chance to sit and scrap this week :(    So today I'm ignoring everything else and having a scrap day!

Jane's Challenge

Challenge One

Mine is a colour challenge - please use at least three of these colours along with chipboard for your page.

Donna's challenges

Challenge Two

For this challenge I want to you use paint and chipboard....How you use it is up to you!

Challenge Three

For my 2nd challenge, I want to see some you adding some extra detail to your chipboard..Here are some examples
  • You can emboss it using a Cuttlebug etc....
  • Heat embossing power...
  • Glitter with Dimensional Magic....
  • Cover it with PP and sand it back

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the running for a $20.00 store voucher, or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Happy scrapping !!
Mystical Team

It's our May cyber crop time and this month it is all in the mixed media.

Come join in on the fun !!!

Jane's Challenges

Challenge One

... Is all about the ink and using some stamps.

Let's grab out those ink pads and stamps and put them to work on your layout like I have done. Remember you don't have to have large ink pads to create stamped images - I use my small Versa Colour stamp pads to get just as good an effect.

Challenge Two

... Is all about paint.

Let's grab some paint to help create our backgrounds.  I have used bubble wrap and white Kaisercraft paint to create this background.  You could use a brush or a credit cards to paint onto your cardstock (or try using a piece of corrugated cardboard for a great effect) or you could use watered down paint sprayed from a bottle onto a normal stencil or just paint directly onto your mask.  Whatever the technique let that paint shine.

Donna's challenge

My challenge is to play with texture paste and paint, it's all about getting messy and having fun. If you don't own any texture paste, you can just use gesso or paint, but it's a lot of fun and I love what it brings to a page.

I coloured my texture paste with Kaisercraft paint, I use a Teflon sheet, but a disposable paper plate is just as good (no washing up, just bin it when done!)

Then just spread it over your template. I'm using WOW 6x6 Altmatz Diagonal Strips, I'm also using a teaspoon as I've run out of pop sticks.... An old plastic card works a treat too.

And you have a great base for you layout, adding great texture and dimension to  your scrapbook pages.

And here is my finished page, you can check you some closer details over in our gallery.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the running for a $20.00 store voucher, or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Happy scrapping !!
Mystical Team

It's cyber crop time and this month it is all about using card stock.
Come join in on the fun !!!

Card stock is a basic scrapbooking must have item, so we are going to turn the spot light on it and make it the star instead of just the background!

Jane's Challenge

This challenge I want you to get back to basics and use your imagination and other products to create your background on plain cardstock - so no patterned paper, in fact no paper products at all on your page (you may mat your photos in card stock).

I have used a stencil and white paint to create my background.  I have added tulle and roses ribbon in one corner and applied pearls liberally across my page and added a rub-on word as my title.

Challenge #2

My challenge is to double mat photo...if you have more than 1 photo you can use to double mat your main photo only...if you don't have 1 main photo then you must double mat them all.

Here is a sneak peek of my page, I will post a full photo tomorrow.
Matting photos is a basic technique used to help make your photo stand out.  Put plainly, it's an even edge of card-stock around the whole photo.  Double-matting is a great way for drawing the eye, and making your photo the main focal point on your page.

Have a play and I look forward to seeing your colour combo!

Challenge #3

For this challenge I would like to see you use card stock for your title...How you used it is up to you.
On this page I've a strip of card through my printer then fussy cut it.

Feel free to use any type of cutting machine if you have one, if not you can hand drawn one, or printed like mine.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 3rd May - Midnight

Welcome to our March Cyber Crop
Scrap with A Flourish

This month we are highlighting Flourishes, we have 3 different challenges using 3 different types of flourishes!

Tracey's Challenge is to use 2 different flourishes and 1 must be handmade!  There are a few ways of creating your own flourishes - trace and draw or doodling are just some examples.

Jane's ChallengeLet's add a little bling to our life - flourish style .... so I'd like to see some rhinestones or pearl flourishes on your page

Donna's Challenge is to use chipboard flourishes.  Due to renovations I didn't get to complete my example yet, so I will be scrapping over the weekend too.  Here just some of the chipboard flourishes you can find in store.

You have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges, upload them to our gallery and be in the running to win a store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.

Due date Sunday 29nd March - Midnight

Welcome to our February Cyber Crop
Fur, Feathers & Fins

This month is all about the aminals.  You must include a photograph (or more) of assorted animals or birds on each of our challenge layouts - watch out for any criteria specifics under each challenge.

Yes people, it's time to scrap those super cute pet pics or dig out the photos of that trip to the zoo or wildlife park you took five years ago and have done nothing with.

Jane's Challenge

Ink, ink and a little more ink.  I want to see you use it in three different ways on your page -  and if you are super inventive you can use it in even more :)

I've used an art liner pen to draw around the outside of my patterned paper, stamped along my washi strip and used drops of mist on my background.  You could also ink your edges or journal or doodle in pen or use ink with a stencil for your background.

Products used:-

Kaisercraft washi - Happiness
Jillibean Soup patterned paper and Kraft cardstock
Ink - spray and pads

Tracey's challenge

Use 3 photos  - .One must have an animal in it and dig out those punches.  You have to use a punch somewhere on your page.

My layout is about a day when Paige was being very brave and patting a snake, she was brave enough to say she wanted to hold it around her neck...but her braveness soon disappeared when the snake was there giving her a hug.

Donna's Challenge

A colour challenge - use a minimum of three of these colours and a wild animal photo (or two or three !!)

Example page will be loaded shortly!

Welcome to the first Cyber Crop of 2015!

Hello everyone, if your anything like us, you have finally de-stressed from the silly season rush around... and reached a ''mellowing out state'' for the rest of the holidays!

We have 3 very different challenges for you to kick off our first CC for 2015. So have some fun with them....spread the word with your scrappy friends and let's see if we can't get a few new friends to join us :)

Close off date is midnight Jan 31st.  Upload your work into the correct gallery to be in the running for a $25.00 Mystical gift voucher.  The winner is chosen at random, and our DT will also pick a favourite entry to receive a chipboard pack.

JANE HOWDEN'S Challenge

My challenge for you this month is to do a page using non conventional sized and shaped photos - so no standard 6x4 or 4x4 !  You can use rectangles and squares if you really want to but they need to be much smaller or way bigger than the norm but why not challenge yourself to do a layout using circles or triangles or even some hexagons.

Just Smile

I have used Pink Paislee- Hey Kid Red Rover paper which conveniently comes with circular holes in which to place my photos :)  I added some of the cute chipboard sticker embellishments that come in this range plus a few little bits and pieces of my own..

Can't wait to see what you come up with !!

DONNA COPE'S Challenge

I have a sketch for you.. I have 2 requirements, must have some paint or messy stuff and include at least one hand made embellishment.

TRACEY CAMPBELL'S Challenge

For my challenge you are going to be starting with your cardstock base, draw a large X anywhere on it that you like - you can draw in pencil to start with but it must become part of your design. Now with that X use it as a main feature on your page. Whether you create your pattern paper around it (like I have done), or your photos, use it as an embellishment or as lines to write your title or journaling on. It does not matter as long as it is incorporated into your design some how.

So pop those creative thinking caps on and scrap up a storm with these three great Mood Boards.

PLUS and extra challenge will be posted on Sunday!! :)

Not sure what to do with a Mood-board? Look at the picture and let your imagination run wild, whether it be the colours, the images, the shapes, the patterns, the topics that catch your imagination run with it and put your thoughts into a layout or a series of three cards.

Jane Howden

will kick us off with her Mood-board with these traditional Christmas images.

use these images to inspire you to create your Christmas layout (or a series of three Christmas Cards), just as Jane has done in her beautiful sample here;

Tracey Campbell

has selected these terrific images to inspire you for a Happy New Year.
use these images to inspire you to create a layout (or a series of three cards) that reflect the mood....they do not have to be New Year Photos...just as long as it is reflecting a happy fun mood, just as Tracey has done on her sample page here;

Dale Tiernan

has put together this fun, bright Summer Mood board.

Use these images to inspire you to create your Summer layout (or a series of three cards), just as Dale has done on her sample page here;

Mystical Team

Hello Scrappy friends and Welcome to our October Cyber Crop!

This is Mystical Scrapbooks Birthday Month, so we are celebrating with a Birthday Cybercrop...three fun birthday challenges for you to get your thinking caps on....or should that be birthday caps on??

 Tracey Campbell's Challenge

This month Tracey wants you to make a layout using the colours from your birth stone and the colour from your birth flower. You can add small touches of other colours....but the two main colours have to be that of your stone and flower. If it just happens that your stone and your flower are the same colour than you will have to do a monochromatic layout. If you do not know what they are here are two charts to help you.

Adorable

Tracey was born in October so she had Pink Tourmaline and Marigold to work with. Now you do not have to do a birthday layout.....just use the colours of your birth stone and flower.

Dale's birthday is also in October so she has the same colours as Tracey to work with. Here is her layout.

Mother's Day

Dale Tiernan's Challenge

This month Dale want's you to create a layout using your star sign or that of a close family member's. Her son Damon was born on 5 June and is a Gemini. May 21 to June 20 is the time period and they're The Twins. Dale used a half and half background to represent the twins and included a horoscope of her son's birthday using this site.

Here is Dale's layout.

Jane Howden's Challenge

This month Jane want's you to celebrate a particular time period in a lifetime - it doesn't have to be a birthday page or even for a person unless you want it to be!  It could be documenting the 6 week mark for your new puppies or the 10th year you have been in your home - just make sure you have the "number" you are highlighting included on your layout.

Here is Jane's layout.

Product used ...

Patterned Papers from Jillibean Soup
Flowers from Green Tara
Pearls from Kaisercraft
Other embellishments from October Afternoon

Hope you have fun with these challenges.  We'd love to see your take on each one in our gallery.

You have till Sunday 26th to upload your creations into the correct gallery.  All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

Mystical Team

Welcome everyone to our Aug CC
We hope you have your scrapping cap on this month as we have three fantastic challenges for you to focus on. This month each Design Team Member has chosen a specific element and wants you to focus on that element as the main feature (other than the photo) of your layout.

Tracey Campbell's focus it "Background"

You are to create a background that pops off the page and is the main focus of your layout.

We've Been Good

For my layout I crinkled up some plastic wrap and dipped it into some water colour paint, then pressed it onto the cardstock. Once dry I applied some gesso through the checker board stencil, then stamped a Christmas stamp randomly over the cardstock. Next I inked the edges with a red ink and drew around some of the small squares and the inked image with a lead pencil.

Dale Tiernan's focus is journaling

You are to have a significant amount of journalling on your layout.

Here is a bit of advice about journalling from Dale.

When you're looking at a photo album of course photos will catch your eye but it's the story behind them that invites the reader to linger. Don't forget to journal. Include the who, what, when, where, why and how.
Consider leaving room when designing your page for the story you want to tell about it. There are so many ways to include journalling. e.g. hidden, on a journal box, directly on to the page, as a feature, in your title.
Don't forget to date your work. You could include the date the photo was taken and the date you made the layout.
Sometimes the everyday things are the ones that are forgotten. Why not create a page about something very ordinary and write a little about it. Even if you have no photos but still want to include a memory. That is such a terrific thing to do. Write from the heart. You could type it up but handwritten journalling is so personal.

Here is a terrific link to give you some more tips. Journalling ideas

Jane Howden's focus is white space

You are to use white space on your layout.

I have to admit that one of my favourite elements of page design is white space.

White space, which is sometimes called negative space, is the open space between your photos, text and scrapbook graphics.  And it doesn’t necessarily need to be white. Plain solid backgrounds and patterned paper backgrounds will work just as well.

One way to create the white-space style is by clustering your photo, title and journaling on one side of the scrapbook page (just right or left of the center) as I have done in my sample page.

I have placed my embellishments at the top left and bottom right creating diagonal flow across my page.

Another design that maximises white space is to cluster together your photo, title/journaling and embellishments into one small space leaving lots of empty, open space.  You can also create layouts where the amount positive space is about equal to the negative space.  The key to a balanced layout is finding where to put that white space.  My general rule of thumb is if it feels right to you and looks visually pleasing then you have found that balance.
And here is a quote from Cathy Zielske, the Queen of white space and one of my favourite crafters.
White space is about letting what you have to show and say stand on its own.  It's about the drama of a good photo shining in all its glory.  It's about giving the eye a much needed rest.  It's about purity of intent.  It's a calm in the storm of visual life.

Hope you have fun with these challenges.  We'd love to see your take on each one in our gallery.

You have till Sunday 31th to upload your creations into the correct gallery.  All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

Donna

HELLO ... and welcome to our July Cybercrop. This month we are challenging you to get messy with three masking/stenciling or template challenges.

Dale Tiernan; challenges you to use a template as a mask and spray ink directly on to it on to paper.

I mist on to paper using a pizza box outside. I laid a piece of paper inside and put the template in one corner. I covered the edges using scrap paper to keep my misting contained.
Spray a light spatter of mist on to the template.
Spread the ink into the shapes in the template. I use a disposable glove so I don't stain my finger and then just throw it away.
You end up with a clean masked area.
Here is the finished product, minus the journalling which I have left a space for.

Everything used to create this page has come from the brand new Mystical Scrapbook's July Kit.

Jane Howden; challenges you to use your stencil as the main background on your page and to use a little pen work !

Please ignore the little smudge mark on the middle left of each photo - my camera lens has a mark on it which I can't seem to remove.

Cardstock, black pens, spray ink and stencils to start .... and yes, I'm using a 6x6 on a 12x12!
I'm using a Creative Colour spray (Aubergine)  and a Crafter's Workshop stencil (mini circle grid) available in the store.

Spray on your ink - TIP #1 Use a pizza box (the kind your Mystical supplies come in - it saves lots of mess) and TIP #2 spraying up close gives an intense look, spraying from 8 inches is more subtle

Remove stencil and while your page is drying, clean it off - I use baby-wipes or run it under the kitchen tap and pat drive with paper toweling.  When dry place your stencil back over the design and use your pen to outline the shapes - do them all or at random.

Now run two stripes of washi (or cardstock/patterned paper) across the design.

Place your photo, a title and a few embellishments and bingo - one zappy page.

TIP - You can add a hand drawn border to your page if you wish or trim your page 1/4 inch all round and mount on black cardstock for added pop.

NOW IT IS YOUR TURN  :)

Tracey Campbell; challenges you to dig deep and use three different stencils/masks or templates. You must use a mixed media product with one of your stencils/masks or template, such as gesso, texture paste or gelatos etc.

Sail Away

For this layout Tracey used her Cameo to cut out that anchor and the Word Title. Then simply sprayed the anchor with mist and then used a sponge and ink through the Word Title. For the third stencil she used gesso and spread it through the chevron mask. This is one of the layouts that Tracey created using the new Mystical Scrapbooks July monthly kit. The only extra added to the layout were the masks, mist and gesso.
Hope that we have not scared you off from our challenges by making them too messy for you...but stencils/mask and templates are such a versatile resource and we want you to get value for your money. Make sure you check out the great range of stencils/masks and templates that Mystical has in the shop and lets get messy together.

You have till Sunday 27th to upload your creations into the correct gallery.  All layouts entered must be created for this CC.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....enter all three challenges and you get 3 chances to win!

We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose they favourite over all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

Happy Scrapping.

June Cybercrop

Welcome to our June cybercrop, we are so glad you could pop in and join us. This month the Design Team has created a 123 cyber crop for you - three completely unrelated challenges, no set theme, no set colours....just three random challenges.

You have until Friday the 14th to upload your layouts into the Mystical Scrapbook Gallery for you chance at our prize this month.

Without further ado we will get to the challenges;

Tracey Campbell's Challenge

Tracey wants you to pull out your pocket page elements - those cut apart sheets or pre-printed cards and use them on your layout. In Tracey's sample she has used the "Photo SNAP" cut apart from the Fancy Pants Memories Captured range. If you do not have any of the pocket page elements that you have permission to cut some cardstock into a 3x4 inch rectangle and decorate as if it is a pocket page element to add to your layout.

Jane's example using mainly Jillibean Soup -Grandma's Lima Bean Soup - Bit Sized Bits.

Dale Tiernan's Challenge

Dale wants you to scrap a layout about a hobby or a sport, whether it be your own, one of the kids or your partners.

She has used the Twiddleybitz Music Notes chipboard found in the store here and simply inked them using a pen. She has also used the Core-dinations Impressions Chevron paper by Pink Paislee which she has sanded to show the white core. This paper can be found in the store here.

Jane's example using papers from Jillibean Soup and stickers from Basic Grey - Knee Highs and Bow Ties.

Jane Howden's Challenge

Jane is working with chipboard this month and would like to see you add some to your page.  These lovely butterflies or similar are available in the store and the paper and tag is from the Indigo Bleu range from Pink Paislee with some added bling and twine.  HINT - if you don't like plain chipboard try inking them in one or even two different colours like Jane has done.

We can't wait to see what you come up with for our 123 Cybercrop.

Happy Scrapping

Blind Scrap

Materials you need:

One 12x12 patterned paper for base
One 15x15 cm square – patterned paper
One 16x16 cm square – patterned paper
One 25x 12.5 rectangle – patterned paper
One photo cropped to 12x12 cm square
1 1/2 doilies – so three half pieces of doilies
2 Washi tapes
Alphas
Mist
Label stickers/diecuts etc
Flare/badge/pin etc
Embellishments

Instructions
1.    Drip some small spots of mist onto the base. A few spots in the top and bottom right hand corners.
2.    Use the 16cm square patterned paper to mat the 15cm square.
3.    Cut the two doilies in half.
4.    Adhere the patterned paper squares to the base, position roughly 6 cm from the right hand side and 8 cm from the bottom of the base.
5.    Place a 5cm strip of washi tape along the bottom right hand corner of the square paper.
6.    Tuck one half of the doily underneath the bottom left hand corner of the square.
7.    Position the rectangle so that it runs across the two squares, roughly 1 cm hanging over the edge of the square and 2 cm up from the bottom of the square.
8.    Tuck a second half of a doily underneath the top edge of the rectangle, so that it pokes out of the top of the rectangle.
9.    Adhere the photo onto the rectangle – position so that it is on the very right hand side of the rectangle, leaving roughly 1.5 mm as a mat for the photo.
10.  Adhere the third half of a doily in the bottom right hand corner, along the edge of the base. Position so that it is roughly 4 cm from the very corner.
11.  Place a 16 cm strip of washi tape across the bottom of the rectangle – position so that it only slightly touches the photo and runs about ½ cm up from the bottom edge of the rectangle. It should hang over the left hand side of the rectangle.
12.  Using alphas create a title on the left hand side of the rectangle.
13.  Adhere a flare embellishment to the corner where the washi tape and the photo overlap.
14.  Using the labels, diecuts, flares or any other embellishment that suits your layout create two embellishment clusters. Position the first on and around the doily in the bottom right hand corner of the base and create the second cluster position so that it over laps the top doily and the top right hand corner of the square patterned paper.

Tracey's page will go up later to give you all a chance to complete this blind!!

Due Date for all CC challenge is Friday 11th April at Midnight.  Have fun girls, I look forward to seeing all your wonderful pages up in the gallery next week

March is here and we are all in the MOOD to scrap.......so for our theme this month we want you to use our fantastically fabulous Design Team's Mood Boards and create you layout from their chosen inspiration.
You haven't used a Mood Board before and don't know what to do? Well it is easy each Design Team member has been trolling though the internet and picked out some beautiful pictures and put them all together for you in the one place so that you can look and draw your inspiration from them. Whether you choose to use the colours, the images, the shapes, the styles....anything that pops out and scrams at you use it. But please when you do upload you layout into the gallery let us know how you were inspired.

Dale Tiernan

Look at the Mood Board and draw our your inspiration.
Dale has used the inspiration from the Mood Board and gone with a similar colour palette and a school themed photo, she has also very cleverly recreated a hand made apple with some of the beautiful patterned papers available from the Mystical Scrapbooks Store.

Year 6

 Jane Howden

Look at the Mood Board and draw our your inspiration.
Jane has used the Mood Board and drawn out a white, green and orange colour combination for her layout, she has used an beautiful Irish Dancing Photo like the Mood Board and I can see butterflies in Janes lovely layout so perhaps she drew her inspiration for them from the fairy photo? You may be inspired to just use the colours of the dresses or perhaps a fancy dress photo? Remember that everyone draws inspiration in all sorts of ways and as long as you tell us how you got your inspiration then nothing is wrong.

River Dance

Tracey Campbell

Look at the Mood Board and draw our your inspiration.
Tracey has used the bright bold colours from her Mood Board to create a fun and funky layout. There are a few banners in the Mood Board so she has used this as inspiration and strung some pom-poms up to create her own fun embellishment. The water paint pallet had Tracey reaching for her paints to create her hand written title. What inspiration can you draw from this Mood Board?
Thanks for stopping by to check out the challenges, we would love for you to play along with us and perhaps even win a prize for yourself. Who wouldn't love a Mystical Store Voucher to spend? Just have your layouts uploaded to the Mystical Gallery by Midnight Friday 14th March.....YES that is one whole week to get these challenges done, now you have no excuse not to get your scrap on.
