December Monthly Challenges

Season's greetings, Merry December and happy holidays! Hopefully you're still relaxed and haven't been swamped by the idea that it's the most busy time of the year! We have two challenges for you for December I hope you can make time for yourself to relax and have a play!

From Donna and I we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and all the best things for the coming year and look forward to seeing what you create in 2019!

Chalenge 1: Colour Swatch

Using a base of either black or white use all four of the colours from the swatch- as little or as much as you want.

Here's my page I've used three of my favourite products from the store; Ranger Distress inks: Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Mermaid Lagoon and Pickled Raspberry, Kaisermist: Aqua, Pink, Lime and Yellow and Nuvo Gloss drops: Dandelion, Apple Bubble Gum and Caribbean Ocean. My 'Happy' title and word and heart stickers are from the new Cocoa Vanilla Midnight range. The little banner flags are Jillibean soup

Challenge 2: Big, Small or Both.

The photo on my page below was printed at an 8x12 and I trimmed it down to 12 x 5 3/4inches. The smaller photos are two 2x2's and a 2x3- there's just enough information to tell the story.  So my challenge to you is to use one big photo, or a series of small photos, or a combination of both for your layout.

I've created my page with papers from Couture Creations Le Petit Jardin and title and embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla Midnight.  With just a splash of Kaisermist

Challenge Rules· Please upload your entries to our Inlinkz link up, or to the gallery in our Private Facebook Chat Group by 11.55pm 31st December 2018 to be eligible for the prize. Prize is by random draw.

· International entries are welcome, however due to international postage cost a Creative Design Spot will be offered along with a little surprise in the post.

Australia residents, this month’s prize is an Embellishment Kit.

Have fun and please share with your scrappy friends!

November Cyber Crop

This month we're giving you the opportunity to get some of your Christmas cards made during the Cybercrop. It's all about mail: cards, letters, postmarks, envelopes, stamps, postcards and pretty packages tied up in string.... these are a few of my favourite things! :-)

Of course all our challenges are suitable for layouts as well, you don't have to do just cards.

This is our last Cyber Crop for the year, so I hope you can all join in and make it our best one!

Challenge 1 - Sketch

I have a sketch for you, I've designed this with either a card or a layout in mind.  If you're using this sketch for cards, please make a set of 3.... and if your doing a layout, you can add 2 embellishment clusters, and adjust the balance and measurements to suit your page size... as long as the over all sketch can be seen in your work.

Here's my examples.  I've used the lovely Kaisercraft Christmas Edition range for both my card and my layout.
I love this range as it doesn't compete with my photos.  I've done both, cards and a layout... which I've turned into a double.  See my blog for more details.

And I've decorated the envelops with some left over PP.

Challenge 2 - Use an envelope, stamp and a tag.

Again this challenge can be used for either card or layouts.
If you are making cards (set of 3 please) , I would love to see a decorated envelope to match your card.
If you are doing a layout, please add a envelope, a stamp and tag to your page.

Here's my page, another Christmas page from last year, my stamp is a real postage stamp, I've made a little envelope to pop some journalling in.

Again I've used the Kaisercraft Christmas Edition range found in store here - Christmas Edition  with Bazzill Bling cardstock - Blank Check, which I think goes so lovely with Christmas photos, it's soft golden shimmer is perfect!
Green Tara Poinsettias and Dusty Attic chipboard title.

Challenge 3: Inspiration Board

Pick and choose parts and ideas from the inspiration board above to inspire your layout.
Need some ideas: Tags, Postage Stamps, Pink, Kraft, Twine, Flowers, Blue, Letter writing, Australiana, Postcard, Birds, Red, Leaves, Envelopes, Layers, Handwriting, Collage, Maps, Typing, Book Pages.

Here's my page...

I was inspired by the blues, flowers, the twine and the word beautiful. I'm working this month with the Couture Creations Range Le Petit Jardin and Cocoa Vanilla Midnight

Mystical and CSI

This month we've been sponsoring the CSI Monthly Challenges. Each month the CSI Blog publishes two challenges that anyone can participate in. The inspiration is based off an image known as the scene The CSI team give a number of clues that you can use or you can pull your own image from the scene. Check out the Challenges on the CSI Blog. And then see if you can figure out the clues I used to solve the case with the layout above.

Birthday Cyber Crop

Welcome to our October Cyber Crop.

October 2008,  I purchased Mystical Scrapbooks.  Over these past 10 years I've seen a lot of changes to our craft, trends come and go.... and then come back again 😊
I seen people come and go, and I’m lucky enough to still know some scrappers from when I started about 20 years ago!
I’ve seen kids grow up via photos and layouts, online friends that I’ve never meet in real life that are still dear to me today.
Facebook has changed many things for us, we closed our on-line forum several years ago now as people moved over to Facebook more and more, and this year we moved our photo gallery over as well.  Facebook being much easier for people to use and comment on layouts.
Design Team members have made this journey possible for me, and I've been so lucky to have had so many great DT members over the years... My deep thanks to them all.
Mystical has been a wonderful journey for me, one that I hope to keep going for another 10 years.

Challenge 1 - Use 10 embellishments only

Paper, card-stock and multi mediums are not included...
Stencils and stamps are counted as 1 no matter how many time you use them.
BUT everything else is counted as single items... ie: 3 rhinestones are counted at 3 items.

Again I've used 2 paper ranges here, Cocoa Vanilla - Love Always and Fancy Pants - Trendsetter
The flair is from Just Add Flair, and chipboard sprayed with Kaisermist… doesn't show up in the photos, bit it has a gorgeous gimmer to it.

1 stencil,  1 flair and 8 bits of chipboard = 10 embellishments

Challenge 2 - Add a banner and a flourish

I've used 2 paper ranges here, Cocoa Vanilla - Love Always and Fancy Pants - Trendsetter
Green Tara flowers, including the Azalea range  and my flourish is embossed chipboard.

Challenge 3 - Tic Tac Toe

(Supplies used: Pebbles Spring Fling Words, Kaiser Mist, Fancy Pants Happy Place Papers and Word Stickers.)

Don't forget: I'm also celebrating this month- it was my birthday on the first and once again I'll be giving away a $20 prize pack picked by me for you to one of the challenge participants this month. (Drawn by a random pick from all the entries in the monthly and cybercrop challenges).

Due date Sunday, 28nd October - Midnight

Upload your challenge entry to the Galleries on our Mystical Scrapbooks Facebook Chat Page.
The chat is private and if you haven't yet joined us we'd love to have you. If you have any trouble joining please email Donna you name and or a link to your Facebook profile and she'll send you an invite.

We will be giving away 1 shopping voucher valued at $20.00, and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do gives you a chance to win!

We will also have a surprise prize!!  Our DT members will chose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.
