Gallery Pick- Jashman

Jashman was a new name in the gallery for me and I am super glad she has joined us- because these two pages are just lovely. I love the colours she has pulled together in this top page and the design of the LO with the multiple small and one main photo is just fantastic! Love that flag banner title too!
Top that off with the great paper choices for this scraplift below- it all just works together perfectly! And I love the way that her title boldly breaks the rules and goes right outside the lines. :-) Thanks so much Jashman for joining in on our challenges!

DT Share: Learning

With all out book challenges happening for the Cyber Crop this week I pulled out all the photos I could find that were book or reading related and spent the CC weekend scrapping our families love of books. I've put old and new together with this simple LO. My patterned paper is from the My Mind Eye Line Lime twist- it's a die cut sheet but I trimmed the edges and mounted it on black. Most of the rest of my page uses pieces from one of the newest line in store Fancy Pants Family and Co.

Donna's Cybercrop Challenge- Gypsy's Page

Donna's challenge for the Cybercrop was to use an old book page- this is a favourite of mine and I have a stash of books including a number of old and failing dictionaries just for this purpose. And that's what I decided to use today- in fact it's the thesaurus section for the page that has 'read'. :-)

Just for fun I decided to challenge myself to use the inspiration board from one of my own CC challenges for my page. I've used ideas from the two books in the top left. My layout design is the adapted from the cover of The Rhythm of Family. And my title is one continuous line just like the title of the book Follow The Line.

I loved this inspiration board and see a heap more ideas I'd like to use; A newspaper page design for a page, the title work on The Lost thing, one main and multiple small photos like on Animalia, the stacked triangles and journalling on paper pieces as per The Flame Alphabet (bottom left), the red and blue or black and white colour schemes on Alice, and the title work and flag banner on Two Caravans were just a few of the things I'd be keen to give a go.

Hello scrappy friends, and welcome to our August Cyber Crop!

Please join us over at our Facebook chat page.  We love to welcome new friends, it's a private page for people that do our challenges, just message me and I can add you :)

Challenge 1 - Use a book page on your layout.

Book pages make a wonderful background, here's my take.  I've brought a cheap book from a second hand shop or flea market years ago, and using gesso I've creating this background.

And here's my layout.... I managed to use some die cuts that where RAK to me by one of the lovely Mystical girls ❤

Challenge 2 - Use a quote or line from a book somewhere on your page.

Here's my take- My quote is from Jane Austen: "What strange creatures brothers are!" I adapted a sketch for my page and I have included that as well... it's not needed to complete the challenge.

Challenge 3Be Inspired by books.

Take inspiration from one or more of the book covers above. Take a look at the designs, colours, shapes, elements, text, and presentation on these cover and use some of them as a starting point for your page or cards.

Here's my page... I've been inspired by the cover divided into quaters (middle right) the circles on Alice (bottom middle) and The 3 Little Pigs cover (top right) reminded me of this Basic Grey newspaper print paper.

You have a week plus to upload your creations into the gallery - Here
Due date Sunday, 27th Aug - Midnight

Gallery Pick- Ebony Jane

This week I have picked a new comer to our Gallery who shows a whole heap of promise as a scrapbooker considering she is only seven years old!

Ebony Jane shared this page in our gallery for the June Winter Cybercrop. I love that she has kept her colour scheme really simple almost monochromatic- the blues look great together. I think the wide mat under the photo really helps to showcase the picture which was an excellent choice for this challenge. I think keeping the embellishing simple was a great choice. The title is very inventive and a cool tip if you happen to be short on some letters. I also think highlighting the journalling with the smudges of blue was a great idea.

This page is from Donna's May Tic tac toe challenge and Ebony Jane chose Doily, tag and flowers. Using the tag as a home for her title was a great idea- and the same goes with using middle of the doily for her journalling... an idea I'm definitely going to scraplift soon. I think the offset purple frame adds interest to the page. She's made great use of her flower and butterfly stickers using the visual triangle design technique to help unify her page and keep the focus on the most important elements. The pink and purple papers work well together and I like the added touch of the hand drawn rainbow to balance out that banner in the top.

Thank-you so much for sharing your pages with us in the Gallery Ebony Jane- we're looking forward to seeing you develop your scrapping skills and inspiring us even further!

Play!

I can't believe we're already a week into August- the year is flying by! Have you had a chance to look at this months challenges? I gave Donna's sketch a go over the weekend. Here's my variation on the idea...

I went with portrait instead of landscape photos and created a little home for some journalling.

My kit this month is the Fancy Pants Line: Family & Co. All the product on my page is from that line and it made the process of pulling my page together so much faster. I love the solid heavy colours in this line. It's designed for Family and Home type pages but I think it's flexible and would work well for winter and both boy and girl pages and so many more.

Gallery Pick- Just Jane

A wonderful triple shot of pages from Just Jane from the Mystical Gallery that I may have fallen a little bit in love with!

This page above what's not to love... simple design but lots of details and perfect colour scheme for that sweet little babe... and what a lovely photo that is. Love the layers and repeating hearts as well.

Once again... simple design, great details, LOVE the colours. The use of the tags is fantastic especially the tag shaped photo.

What a great gathering of word stickers and embellishments down that left hand side! I also love that Jane's chosen a neutral background to go with her group photo... lots of faces going on in there...great balance. Love the colours and design on this one too. Did you notice how she's used just one punch of an edge punch up the top of the page? I will be definitely be scraplifting that idea.

Thanks Jane for sharing your Layouts and inspiration in the Mystical Gallery.

Dt Share- Fabuolus Bubbles

This is another page where things didn't go quite as intended. I embossed the large uneven rounds with clear embossing powder onto a full 12x12 sheet of white cardstock. My embossing ink pad was a bit dry so my rounds ended up a bit more uneven than I wanted.
Then I sprayed my page with Aqua Kaisermist. The full 12x12 sheet was just too much for my page. So I cut it down and mounted it on a complimentary piece of patterned paper. and then onto a white cardstock base to give the page more balance.

My puffy word sticker wasn't very happy about sticking to my embossed page- so I had to surround them in dimensional magic to keep them in place.

I finished my page with some more circular items to continue my bubbly theme.

DT Quick Share: B is for Boy

Just a quick share from me today... Once more I'm working with the Cocoa Vanilla You Rock line and I've gone a little crazy flicking mist on my background to reflect the mess going on in my photo.

Supplies Used: Bazzill White Cardstock, Cocoa Vanilla You Rock: Patterned Paper: Night Sky, Die Cut Ephemera, Accessory Stickers, Chipboard Accent Stickers and Flair, Kaisermists: Peach and Denim.

Last of the Summer Days

Another page from my month of Kaisermist play... I've used the Cocoa Vanilla Love Always Class Act Paper and opened the bottle so I could paint on the Kaisermist: Peach, Yellow, Apple, and Aqua.

The thickers (which we don't have in the store but you may have in your stash) are the Mistables- I laid them out on a non stick sheet and sprayed them with the yellow, apple and aqua sprays to match my page.

I finished my page with butterflies cut from my favourite Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart paper- Mariposa which I popped up on foam dots and a Banner Sticker from the CV Endless summer accessory sticker sheet also popped up.
