Gallery Pick ~ Jane H

Each month on our Facebook chat, we host the albums for the monthly and Cybercrop challenges. There is such a great wealth of inspiration in those albums I wanted to pick some scrapbooker's pages to share each week.

This weeks Gallery Pick is Jane H. How sweet and girly is this cute page by Jane. It's just perfect for her photos and the design is spot on! Love it. Thanks for the inspiration Jane!

Tuesday Tip: Christmas in the mail

Each year I make this scrapbook page in January. I use a square punch to punch out cute parts of this years Christmas cards. I mount them on a 11x11in piece of card- and then mount that on a 12x12- leaving the top open to create a pocket.

I slot into the pocket all the Christmas letters, photos and sweet notes we have received in the mail over the holiday season.

I embellish the page with Christmas Postage stamps and any little pop-up pieces from the cards- then each year I add the same title and the year.

November CC-

Welcome to our last Cyber Crop for the year!

I know it's old, and it's been said a million times, but I can't believe how fast this year has flown by!!  Another reason to make sure you add journaling to your pages, we say we're going to remember, but the time fly's by and before you know it you have forgotten that cute this your child/husband/wife said or did, or the details of a family event fade from memory...

We have 3 challenges for you based on adding a bit more journaling to your page other than the standard name date.

Challenge 1 - Hidden Journaling.
Create a page with hidden journaling, sometimes you want to remember some details but don't necessarily want everyone to be able to read it.  This is where hidden journaling is perfect!

For my page, I've made a tag that sits behind the photo.

I've used the gorgeous 3 Quarter Designs papers - Vintage Daze.  These papers are lovely and thick, perfect for any mixed media you wanted to use!
I've painted the chipboard with Kaisercraft Paint - Mocha, with touches of white and Pinecone Ink
Gauze and Mulberry flowers - Green Tara petal and elements from the paper kit make up my cluster.

Challenge 2 - Sketch with Journaling points

Challenge 3 - Write a list

Create a page that has some sort of list- is can be as long or as short as you want. My page has a list of my son's favourite books in 2013.

Supplies used: Bazzil White Cardstock, Colour Blast Love and Grace ~ Adele, Cocoa Vanilla- Happiness ~ Die Cut Titles, and Midnight ~ Chipboard Pieces, Wood Heart and Star Embellishments, Pink Paislee- Indigo and Ivy- Phrases- Expressions, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Fired Brick.

Have fun and please share with your scrappy friends...

Due date Sunday,1st December - Midnight

Upload your challenge entry to the Galleries on our Mystical Scrapbooks Facebook Chat Page.

Our chat is private and if you haven't yet joined us we'd love to have you. If you have any trouble joining please email to me, Donna, with your name and or a link to your Facebook profile and I will send you an invite.

We will be giving away 1 gift voucher valued at $20.00 and each entry receives 1 ticket into the draw.....each challenge you do, gives you an extra ticket in the draw!

We will also have a surprise prize!! Our DT members will choose their favourite over-all layout and I will send that lucky person a surprise in the mail.

Happy Scrapping

New in Store: Art Alchemy Metallic Waxes

New in store recently, are these wonderful metallic waxes from Finnabair's Art Alchemy for Prima. With 16 lush colours and metallic finishes, I found it hard to choose... and even then I went back a second time to grab- just one more. :-)

These waxes can be used to colour just about anything and will look just as good on a dark surface as they will on a light one. The finish looks like a bright metallic lustre.
  • Really awesome for colouring chipboard, or collage pieces- you can apply direct to the item or paint it first for different effects.
  • Once it has dried it is permanent.
  • Apply multiple colours to create a patina or aged look.
  • Use lighter colours for highlights
  • Use darker colours to give the effect of shadows.
  • Use it on the edges of your pages, photos, or journal cards.
  • Change the colour of embellishments to suit your page
  • Apply with a brush or just use your fingers... not particularly messy so a great way to get into mixed media without too much clean-up!

I've linked some videos at the end of this post so you

As well as the above colours we also have; Aged Brass, Bronze Age, Rich Copper, Rose Gold and Vintage Gold. Each offering their own special effects and highlights.

Here are some projects from Finnabairs Blog to show how the waxes appear on projects...

Finally check out these videos on Youtube which give some basic information on the what and how of this interesting and striking product:
