DT Share: Friends

A simple page today celebrating our old neighbours who were great friends to the kids and great to have just over the road. I've cut the Basic Grey Lemonade Journalling sticker in half to reduce it's impact on the page while still keeping the fun and movement of this element. I've used yellow washi tape and flowers to help compliment the pick on this page- a colour combination which I love for it's fresh, playful feel.

Supplies used: Cardstock; Bazzill Basics Black and White, Papers; Basic Grey Lemonade; Pretty Petals and Strawberry Patch, and BG Lemonade Element Stickers. Green Tara Primula Yellow and leaves, Kaiser Resin Blossoms, and We R Memory Keepers Washi Tape. Note the title is from my own stash and not from the Mystical Store- but these new Pebbles Spring Fling Word Stickers would be great to use for page titles.

Showing a little love today to... DebiJ

I love the way DebiJ has taken Donna's sketch from the May Cybercrop and made it her own! The photo has captured such a sweet moment in time- I love both their faces. I love the bright colours Debi has chosen- how great does the yellow and pink look together! I also love the way Debi's added touches pull you into her page- there's so much to see and appreciate. Thank-you for sharing this sweet page Debi- I'm inspired to put some pink and yellow together sometime soon.

Kathy's Challenge - Winter

I don't really like the cold of Winter to be honest but I do love that warm and cozy feeling of snuggling into a blanket or soft knits.  I decided to scrap this photo of my youngest two, there's nothing much sweeter than a baby all snuggled up in a cuddly, fluffy suit is there?!

I tried to convey that warm, cozy feeling of Winter by using felt, and a button and doing some stitching on the page too.  So my challenge for you is to use some kind of fabric, buttons and sewing on your page.

The sentiment along the side is cut from the Eclectic paper by Cocoa Vanilla. I say something similar to my girls every night, so it was perfect for this page.

The paper is Seamstress from the Little Yellow Bicycle Clothesline range.  I really loved both sides and only had 1 sheet, so I had to carefully cut a strip out and reverse it where I wanted the panel to be. But it was worth it!  This paper range is especially gorgeous in real life because it has a linen type texture on one side.

The darker yellow paper around the photo, matt and the small stars is Simple Stories Life in Colour Teal/Yellow paper.

Cardstock is Bazzill Basic White.

The fancy border and date are from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid Element Stickers.
The alphabet is Sunrise - Natural by Thickers.

I used white felt for my stars and just did a simple stitch, tied at the front, to secure them.

Donna's Challenge - Autumn

For my challenge I've found this gorgeous photo of Autumn eucalyptus leaves, and created a colour pallet for you to have a play with!  You can add a little black, kraft or white if you wish.

I would love to credited the photographer, but I found this image on Pinterest, and it didn't seem to lead to anyone I could credit.

For my page I've used the soft green, pink and grey with an added touch of black from the Fancy Pants - Trend Setter range.

Now doen't forget, you have a full week plus, to scrap these challenges.  Upload them to our gallery and be in the winning for a $20.00 store voucher or a pack of lovely goodies for being the DT pick.
Due date 3rd July - Midnight

Chatting is over on our Facebook page - Here

We love new scrappy people joining us, so just send me a message via facebook or email at admin@mysticalscrapbooks.com.au
I can then send you and invitation to join us.

Have fun

DT Share: Pink Galah

Something a bit different from me today- my June kit is the delightfully bright- pinks, limes and yellows of the Basic Grey Lemonade line- which I have paired up with some other bits and pieces from the Mystical store to have a month of sunshine on my pages. First up I'm using this 12x12 diecut sheet which I have trimmed off to create a window for my photos and other page elements. I've mounted the uncut side  on a green to reduce the boldness of the paper and put the focus on my photos.

Supplies used: Bazzill Cardstock, Basic Grey Lemonade Paper Doilies Flower, My Minds Eye Lime Twist Hello Bubbles, Basic Grey Lemonade Rub-ons and Elements Stickers, Kaiser Rhinestones Soft Pink, Alpha's Baic Grey Mini Monograms Pink, and Thickers Foam.

Another quick share- my last from my May October Afternoon Farmhouse Kit which I have absolutely loved working with! This is one of my favourite photos of me as a child taken on a holiday to my Grandparents place- my first ever plane trip! I think the colours of the October Afternoon Farmhouse Range work perfectly with this photo.

Supplies used: Cardstock Bazzill; White. Patterned Paper: October Afternoon; Her Bureau, Attic Trunk, Clothesline, Kitchen Cupboard, Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit Eclectic; journal card, October Afternoon Journal Cards and Label Stickers,  Kaiser Rhinestones Silver.

DT Share- Me at Two

A quick share from me today from my May kit. This paper really has leant itself to my older black and white photos and I have enjoyed scrapping them even if I haven't had any particular stories to tell. I've used a rectangular block design as a home for my photo and title. I added a gathering in the top right corner where my eyes are looking.

Supplies used: Cardstock Core'dinations Gibraltar and Bazzill. Patterned Paper: October Afternoon; Church Social, Gravel Road, Her Bureau, Phonograph, Attic Trunk, October Afternoon Flower Sack and Label Stickers, Basic Grey Serenade Element Stickers, Kaiser Lace Cream, and Thickers Lovely in cream.

Showing a little love today to... Sharnook

Sharnook has shared a playful take on Kathy's sketch for the May Cybercrop challenge. The gorgeous photos of her daughter work perfectly with her embellishments. The layered papers add a fun touch- and I love the way she's used the little frame. Thanks for some great ideas Sharnook.

We'd love to have more people join in on the challenges each month- we really enjoy seeing what everyone does with the prompts- it's always surprising and inspiring.

Stash busting: G

Something a little different this week. I've built up quite a stash of scraps from my kits and wanted to get some of it used up. There's no story with this photo other than that I was happy to finally find some wooden scrabble letter and Will was kind enough to model one for me. So as I didn't need any journalling or title I had the opportunity to make the most of the space. I've made a sunburst design with scraps and then drawn a frame to pull it all together. The stickers form a visual triangle which helps direct your eye on the page.

Supplies used: Papers: Pink- LYB Clothesline Yellow- October Afternoon Farmhouse Green- Doodlebug Snips and Snails Blue stars- Cocoa Vanilla Totally Rad Orange- Basic Grey Knee Highs B&W Stars- Fancy Pants Memories Captured Blue Floral- Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit Teal- Simple Stories Life in Colour, Arrows- Fancy Pants What a Wonderful Day Grey Chevron- Jillibean Soup Staples. Stickers- Simple Stories Life in Colour

2nd Challenge for June - Frame It!

Hi :)  It's Kathy here, with a new challenge for June.

Your mission is to :
Frame It - Use a frame over your photo.

I cut my photo to be the same size as the frame, but then tilted it so that you could see the edges of the photo beneath.  I think this made it a little more interesting.  You could also put a smaller frame over a full size photo to highlight a portion of it or you could just frame the outside of the photo normally.

My frame was from the Cocoa Vanilla - Free Spirit Die Cut Ephemera pack.  There are many packs similar to this that include frames or you could make your own using 2 square layering dies or any shape you wish.

Everything else on the page is from the Simple Stories - Life in Colour collection.
I love the hugs and kisses paper, it's called Big Memories and it works so well with the quote.
The pink paper is the B side of So Much Happiness.
The sentiment is from the 4x6 Horizontal Journal Elements paper.
The little strips of papers, flowers and clips are from the Ephemera pack.

I also used Bazzill Basic White Cardstock.

I hope you'll join in our challenge this month.  I can't wait to see your creations.

Thanks for dropping by :)

Showing a little love today to... DebW

Deb's choice of grey as a background is perfect for giving her photo centre stage on her page- it really pops! The strip journalling and the understated embellishing add great details to the page. And did you notice how she's picked up the colours and lines in the gentlmen's shirts. A lovely simple page- thanks DebW

In with the old: Always Family

This week I'm once again working with KI Memories Glitter Lace Cardstock. It's hard to tell in this image but this cardstock has a great shimmery glittery look. There are a few great ways to use this cardstock- this week I've used it just as I would another piece of patterned paper- but because it is die cut it has much more texture and adds interest to the page.

Supplies used: Cardstock- Core'dinations Gibraltar, Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Memories Captured: Family Album and Panorama Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit: Eclectic, KI Memories Glitter Lace Heartbeat Pure. Crate Paper Fourteen 12x12 Chipboard, Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit Die Cut stickers and Puffy Stickers, October Afternoon Farmhouse: Label Stickers and 12x12 Alphabet Stickers.

Showing a little love today to... Jazikt

Jazikt subtle tones and minimal embellishing have created a lovely peaceful scene which reflects the scene in her photo. I love the way she's used woodgrain paper to highlight the waterfall in the image- such a cool design feature. This layout was based on Donna's sketch for the May Cybercrop- I love the way Jazikt has used it- thanks for sharing this inspiration with us!

Cute as a Bug

Hi :)  It's Kathy here with a page to share with you.

I have finally made something that combines my love of stamping and colouring with my love of scrapping :) Yay!

I really enjoy colouring with my Copics and I decided to colour this stamp and toadstools to match the beautiful paper from Simple Stories. I thought the paper would work wonderfully with this photo of my girls being cute bugs (actually a butterfly and an ant) :)

The paper is from the Life in Colour range and it's called The good life and the Teal/Yellow papers I've used for the title are also from this range.  I actually diecut the letters from card first and then glued the paper diecut on top of that for some extra dimension.

I also used Bazzill white and the small alphabet used in the title are Sunrise Thickers.

Thanks for dropping by today :)

In with the old: Welcome My Girl

This week for 'in with the old' I'm once again using the KI Memories Glitter Lace Cardstock.  I'm sharing an easy technique for creating a fun water coloury background using Tim Holtz Distress inks.

I've chosen (clockwise from top left): Worn Lipstick, Pickled Raspberry, Broken China and Squeezed Lemonade. I used the plastic packaging that the Glitter Lace cardstock came in and swiped the ink pad across it to give a generous square of ink on my plastic sheet.

Then I've spritzed each ink with water I keep in a small spray bottle on my table.

I love the way the colours match up with the flowers in this cardstock piece from Crate Paper.

I lightly traced around the bottom edge of my Glitter Lace Cardstock in pencil- I'm using the Bouquet ~ Pure this week.

Then using a smaller piece of the plastic packaging folded around my finger I'm picking up the watery ink.

And applying it to the page in small swipes. The colours combine in this technique to produce new shades- so my pink and yellow come together to make a nice apricot. The blue and pink a lovely purple.

Pencil lines rubbed off- here's the finished effect I haven't worried too much about keeping in the lines- I like the messy look.

And here's the final page. I've adhered the Glitter lace cardstock added my photos and kept the embellishments minimal as the page is already quite busy.

June Challenge #1- Using Lines

Gypsy here with the first challenge for June- can you believe we're already into the sixth month of the year- I feel like it's flying by.

Inspired by Ness' LO from the Gallery I decided to use lines as a design feature on my page for this challenge. My photo is quite strong and bold so my lines are too. On this page they 'point' to my subject and also draw your eyes across the page. They also reflect Will's pointing in the photo too. They provide a great contrast to my very round title (and my round little boy). :-)

But you can also use lines to indicate direction, show connections, add movement, divide a story, extend an element in your photo like a horizon or waves and show time (time line). So your first challenge for the month is to use lines (straight, round, or irregular) to help tell the story on your page. You can be as subtle, abstract, or direct as you want.

Supplies used in my page: Core'dinations Cardstock: Gibraltar, Crate Paper Fourteen: Sparks, Basic Grey Knee Highs: Tether Ball. Thickers: Iguana, Cocoa Vanilla - Totally Rad - Little Stars and Enamel Shapes, and Pink Paislee Hey Kid Tags.
