Scrapbook Gourmet Week Five

It's week five in the Mystical Scrapbooks- Scrapbook Gourmet Competition if you haven't already  go check out this week's challenge. On the menu Fish Fillets with Beetroot- I channelled my inner master chef and pulled out the Nuvo drops. I smeared a big gloop of the Rhubarb Crumble across my page with my bone folder and then some  smaller smears of the bottle green with my fingers.

Weekend Inspiration: Hooray!

A massive double-page, double pocket-page Layout today to inspire your weekend scrapbooking!!

Confession #1 I take a LOT of photos (that's okay). Confession #2 Sometimes I print WAY too many photos (that's a problem). Pocket pages are the solution.  When I came to do this page I realised I really didn't want to leave off any of the pictures- so I grabbed a pocket page and a couple of 12x12's.

Here's some inspiration to take from these pages...

1. Make a pocket page!
2. Do a double page LO.
3. Scrapbook a birthday celebration.

4. Make a background with mask/stencil and inks.
5. Make a pocket and add in a bunch of project life type cards.
6. Scrapbook a Column design

7. Add embellishments on the outside of your pocket page to help add cohesion.
8. Cover the end of a PL Card in glue and dip it in sequins or confetti.
9. Use a redundant part of your photo to add the title.

10. Print a mix of 3x4 and 4x6 photos.
11. Put your photos in chronological order to help tell the story.
12. Have fun!

Supplies used: Bazzill Cardstock: White, Kaisercraft: Oh Happy Day, Glitter Thickers Sparkle, Confetti, Uniquely Creative Stencil and Distress Oxide Ink.

Layout Quick Share

A quick and easy page made with just one sheet of patterned paper from Couture Creations Sunburnt Country Collection complimented with their stamps and dies and Cork Thickers. The photos tell the story so all it needs is the date. :-) Easy peasy.

Scrapbook Gourmet Week Four

It's week three in the Mystical Scrapbooks- Scrapbook Gourmet Competition if you haven't already  go check out this week's challenge. Donna picked a simple green salad and I took the green and ran with it... do you find it easy scrapping green? I'm looking forward to seeing the challenges in the facebook gallery.

I coloured my white flowers with Kaisermist and highlighted them with Art Alchemy Waxes- which I also used on my black foam title.

Weekend Inspiration

This weeks competition challenge is the salad course... you've been asked to use Green, Paint and paper tearing- my page above only meets one of those criteria- but perhaps it might inspire you to add some die cut leaves to your page. Here are some more pages I found on the internet to help inspire your competition challenges. Pop back tomorrow to see my take on the challenge...

Tip of the Week

Makeup Sponges
Hi Everyone.
Do you use dabbers and sponges for your stencilling and inking etc, well what about using makeup sponges. You can buy large bags of different sizes and you can also cut them to the size you want.
So easy to use.

Gallery pick - Karen L H

Each week we pick a LO that has been inspiring us from the Mystical chat Galleries. This week's pic is Karen L-H. I love the choices that Karen has made for her paper and embellishments - the colours and patterns work well together and the bright colours are a great compliment for her black and white photo. The Band design is a great style when you have one photo to share the horizontal design draws your eyes into look at the photo.

Thans for sharing your layout with us Karen- it's fabulous!

Cyber Crop Fun

Some pages come together really quick.... others like this one, don't!

But I'm finally happy with it :)
Cocoa Vanilla & Echo Park papers are working well together...
Journalling tag to yet to be written on and 2 of the photos are digitally added as my photos ended up in Sydney for printing!
Ok.. found out another very cool thing about these waxes..  You can just keep adding to it without spoiling your chipboard.  I painted this white to start with, that didn't work... so then I painted it with green spray mist, lovely and sparkly, but the white paint made it too light, it just didn't stand out as a title should.

So I reached for my Art Alchemy Metallique Wax.  I highlighted the leading edge and the candle flame with bronze and ..... nope didn't like it, I have silver in one of the photos so the bronze just didn't go (I grabbed it cause I love the colour, but didn't think about the page!!)
Went over it again with the Old Iron, leaving a bit of the bronze on the flame.... Much better!  Sadly, this photo doesn't show the beautiful metallic sheen it as.

Gota love Nuvo Drops... Great for a bit of extra detail on a boy's page....

Thanks for stopping by!
Donna

Layout Quick Share

I've mixed the Open Road and Sunburnt Country lines to create this page. I love following a diagonal line when I am scrapbooking and you'll see it in a lot of my pages. On this one I have also created an intersection with the tan paper as a focal point for the LO and that's where I put the bulk of my embellishing and my journalling. It's like creating a couple of subtle arrows saying the important stuff is here. :-)

Oxides, brushes, and Stencils

I have this page to share with you coming up soon on the blog- but I was just too excited about a number of new products not to share them now.

I know that Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks have been around for a long time- and as I already have the full set of his distress inks I was hesitating on adding these to my stash as well. But after Donna got them in I thought I would try- just a few. :-) I absolutely love them. The distress inks are a dye ink which means they have a bunch of properties that are quite handy... I'm not really an ink junkie (yet) so you'll have to google that. The Oxide Inks are a pigment ink- which means they have a bunch of different properties most of which I don't yet understand- I will be googling that! What I did love though is what I'd describe as the creamy opaque colour of them- it feels like you are getting exactly what you are expecting. I also think they blend really well together and look lush! I will certainly be adding a lot more of them to my cart over the coming months.

If you have them here's a handy Oxide colour chart to use.
Here's one for the Distress Inks.

I applied the inks with these blending brushes- they are out of stock at the moment but I encourage you to grab some as soon as we have them back in. They make applying the ink an absolute dream- much easier to use that the foam pad type applicators and you can wash them clean in an instant on a stamp cleaner pad, baby wipe, or damp face washer. Originally intended for ake up they are super fine and soft. I will admit I may have a bit of an obsession with rubbing my fingers over them.

Finally, Donna recently added this new range of Uniquely Creative Stencil/Masks into the store. They are super affordable at less than six dollars. There's a variety of styles in stock and they seem to be nice and sturdy so easy to use. This Triangle Fade one is my favourite but I am looking forward to grabbing most (all) of the others.

Weekend Inspiration

This week's Competition Challenge asks you to use straight lines and splatters. I have trawled the web for some inspirational examples of layouts with one or both of those to help you meet the challenge...
